Perhaps a minor issue of the film might be the story, as it is a bit too deep for kids, with several sad and dark moments, which is weird for a movie intended for children, for that reason we were not surprised to hear just a few laughs during the film, thanks to the main comic duo of the story: Mub & Grub, a slug and a snail. The music on the other hand is a major asset to the film, with the legendary Danny Elfman taking over the score that bring the forest to life in a magical way, with his unique style. Speaking about the animation, it’s clear that the current technology advances for this area, give Epic a beautiful and realistic touch as it features one of the most stunning virtual landscapes we`d seen in a long time, helping the audience to share the journey alongside the main characters, especially with the help of the 3D technology, that once again works as a perfect complement for an animated film. And if you’re too young to know who he is, try with Pitbull. If you decide to go, challenge yourself and try to find out who’s played by Steven Tyler without searching on the internet. The storyline is not a typical one as it includes some darker touches and likeable characters at the same time, with an all-star voice cast behind them, in order to give a major input to the film with so many familiar voices around that will surprise you at the end of the credits when you see the actual names of the actors and musicians behind each character. In the movie, we see him going through a rebellious stage that makes him leave everything behind in search for adventures. He’s been raised by Ronin, the leader of the brave Leafmen and a close friend of Nod’s departed dad. Nod, on the other hand, is a forest creature whose parents passed away. Because of this, MK feels depressed and decides to leave her father. Bomba, however, is a loving yet neglectful dad who is obsessed with forest creatures. MK, on one hand, is a nice girl who moves with her father Bomba after her mother passes away. This is our review of the film – but as usual – no matter what we say we recommend that you still go to your local cinema and see the film because: There is no better critic than yourself!Įpic introduces us to Mary Katherine (MK) and Nod, two teenagers whose paths cross in a way none of them would have expected. Thanks to 20th Century Fox, we had the chance to see Blue Sky Studios’ new animated film Epic before its Australian cinematic release. ![]()
